Caring for pet furniture and office accessories
Everyday care starts with the individual product: its material, finish and separate components. Pet furniture, a laptop stand and an organizer do not necessarily need the same treatment. The instructions on the product page and in its manual always take priority over the general advice in this guide.
Distinguish the material from its appearance
A “wood-look” finish describes how a surface looks; it does not, by itself, mean that the item is made from solid wood. Before choosing a cleaner or maintenance product, check the description of your particular design. Do not apply oil, wax or polish simply because the surface looks like wood.
Also distinguish the frame from any cushion, cover or bowls. Each component may need a different cleaning method. If the instructions do not clearly identify suitable care for a material, ask us before proceeding.
Clean gently and avoid unnecessary moisture
Use a soft cloth for everyday dust. Where the instructions allow damp cleaning, wring the cloth out thoroughly and dry the surface immediately afterwards. Do not allow water to collect around edges, joints or underneath objects. Remove spills when they happen.
Avoid abrasive sponges, vigorous scrubbing and cleaning products that are not suitable for the particular finish. Around feeders, check the surface underneath the bowls as well. At your desk, remove the device before cleaning its stand. Allow components to dry before putting them back.
For fabric components, follow the care label or the product instructions. A removable cover is not automatically machine washable.
Check placement, assembly and intended use
Place the item on a stable surface and use it for its intended purpose. Check whether it is designed for indoor or outdoor use; appearance alone cannot establish this. Before moving it, remove devices, bowls and loose components. Follow the manual when checking connections or assembling the product.
Frequently asked care questions
Can I use the same cleaner across the collection?
Not necessarily. Check each product’s material and finish. A cleaner suitable for one surface may be unsuitable for another.
What should I send if I am unsure?
Send the product name or link, a photo of the area and the cleaner you are considering. Contact the YLOMA team for clarification, or browse the products and their individual care instructions.
